Business Compliance
Case Study
VisitScotland is Scotland's national tourism organisation. It supports the responsible growth of tourism and events and drives the visitor economy, creating better places for people to live, work, and visit.
They partnered with Virtual College by Netex to create an empowering learning culture across the organisation and train over 600 staff members using our intuitive LMS and flexible training subscription.
We loved your training platform, especially the social side and how intuitive and user-friendly it is. It’s very modern and we could see an innovative approach to learning going forward.
93% completion rates within the first 3 months across mandatory eLearning.
638 learners across the organisation annually.
Visit Scotland administered their training through a HR software that was primarily used for payroll administration. The software wasn’t intuitive or user-friendly and didn't give their learners the learning experience they envisioned.

Their vision was to create a learning culture that encouraged empowerment amongst their staff. They wanted to work with a training provider who would not only have an intuitive learning platform but an organisation who could support their learners to create an easy and accessible learning experience.
/n/n### The Solution
The project delivered a flexible Training Subscription package, providing access to over 200 online courses through Single Sign-On integration. It also included an intuitive Learning Management System (LMS) that supports training for over 600 staff members. Additionally, valuable LMS add-on features, such as Content Creation, were incorporated to enhance learning experiences. To ensure a smooth rollout, we provided examples and templates for creating and communicating an internal launch plan to staff.
Once I had used and tested it, I realised how easy it was to use and that was exactly what we were looking for
It has created a new way of working for us and has made us think more about how we want to present ourselves as a function
We supported the organization in fostering an empowering learning culture while providing invaluable feedback and advice for their LMS launch program. Our contribution included a seamless onboarding process, guiding them through the technical setup and navigation of the system. Additionally, we played a key role in shaping how they present themselves as an L&D department, ensuring a strong and strategic learning presence within the organization.
Completion rates within the first 3 months
Learners annually across the organisation
Within the first three months, the organization achieved an impressive 93% completion rate for mandatory eLearning, driven by the use of automated reminder emails. Annually, 638 learners across the organization benefit from the training. The Content Creation tool has proven invaluable, enhancing engagement among subject matter experts (SMEs) and contributing to the overall success of the program. Additionally, the efficient reporting function of the LMS has streamlined the process for quarterly meetings, providing valuable insights into learner progress and engagement.
I put together a communications plan using a template provided by the Virtual College team and shared what my vision was from a Visit Scotland perspective. Just getting the feedback and support from Virtual college was invaluable
